„Condei de junior” este o rubrică semnată de elevii Școlii Generale „Leon Dănăilă” din Darabani, pasionați de istorie locală, interesați de a învăța secretele scrisului și dornici să facă și altora cunoscute poveștile pe care ei le descoperă.
Acum trei sferturi de secol, la 31 august 1939, Germania nazistă invadează Polonia. Urmează o avalanşă de domino care aduce România anului 1941 în pragul războiului. În urma unor jocuri politice ale vremii, ţara aflată atunci sub conducerea mareşalului Antonescu porneşte lupta de partea Axei.
În acel an comuna urbană Darabani avea, conform recensământului, 12.951 de locuitori. Armata U.R.S.S. – ului ocupa tot ce avea în cale, cucerind localitate după localitate. Basarabenii se refugiază la sud de Prut. Pe teritoriul Darabaniului şi al satului Bajura se duc primele ostilităţi care anunţă teroarea anilor următori. În această perioadă situaţia târgului este descrisă ca fiind „lamentabilă”. Războiul şi neglijenţa transformă localitatea într-o ruină. Nu este luată atitudine, iar anii următori nu aduc îmbunătăţiri.
Data de 2 aprilie 1944 aduce alături de fulgii de nea şi armata sovietică pe teritoriul comunei. Aceasta vine din Rădăuţi Prut şi îşi continuă expansiunea teritorială. Autorităţile dau bir cu fugiţii, lăsând orașul de izbelişte.
În aceşti ani de nelinişte şi de haos total familiile locuitorilor dărăbăneni au stat cu sufletul spre front. Soldaţii care nu s-au temut de moarte, alţii terifiaţi au plecat la luptă împotriva U.R.S.S. – ului la voinţa conducerii vremii. Zile de coşmar în frigul rusesc urmate deseori de alte zile în lagăre au îndurat soldaţii de pe plaiurile dărăbănene.
Anisie Minu, soldat care a luptat în Al Doilea Război Mondial a fost unul dintre cei trimişi pe front pentru a se împotrivi ruşilor, în Crimeea. Acesta locuia în Păltiniş, era asistent medical, soţ şi tată. Soarta a făcut ca în anul 1943 să fie înrolat în armată şi să fie trimis în Crimeea. După lupte crâncene, apare riscul de a fi luat prizonier şi dus în Siberia. Cu un gram de noroc şi cu altul poate de isteţime, soarta îi surâde totuşi şi reuşeşte să scape. Prefăcându-se mort alături de alţi camarazi, reuşeşte să ajungă pe un vas care are ca destinaţie Constanţa.
Aventura sa nu s-a oprit aici. În apropierea destinaţiei, echipajul şi soldaţii fugari ajung în urma bombardamentelor, în voia valurilor. După două zile în care doar credinţa şi speranţa l-au ajutat, soldatul Anisie Minu este salvat şi adus pe pământ românesc. În Constanţa are onoarea de a-l întâlni pe Mareşal. Întoarcerea sa acasă a fost umbrită de către invazia trupelor sovietice. Acesta a trebuit să se ascundă în horn pentru a evita pedeapsa sovieticilor.
Povestea sa, alături de poveștile altor locuitori care s-au născut pe plaiurile noastre, ne face să privim spre trecut pentru a ne cunoaşte mai bine.

Ioan – Divizia Tudor Vladimirescu; Soldat Bălan G.Constantin; Soldat Cozma T.Teodor – Divizia Tudor Vladimirescu; Soldat Trişcă Constantin;
