Data de 2 aprilie 1944 aduce alături de fulgii de nea şi armata sovietică pe teritoriul comunei. Aceasta vine din Rădăuţi Prut şi îşi continuă expansiunea teritorială. Autorităţile dau bir cu fugiţii, lăsând orașul de izbelişte.
În aceşti ani de nelinişte şi de haos total familiile locuitorilor dărăbăneni au stat cu sufletul spre front. Soldaţii care nu s-au temut de moarte, alţii terifiaţi au plecat la luptă împotriva U.R.S.S. – ului la voinţa conducerii vremii.
