Eminescu şi Darabanii

Începând cu 1983, chipul de zeu tânăr, palpabil şi spiritualizat în acelaşi timp al poetului Mihai Eminescu, săpat în piatră de mâna unui sculptor inspirat, priveşte şi din parcul Darabanilor, printre horbote de verdeaţă, tei molcom şoptotiri şi flori mirositoare, peste orizontul accesibil pământenilor.

Eminescu la Darabani? Argumente pro sunt mai multe. Ca poet al tuturor românilor, el poate fi revendicat oriunde, deci şi aici. Dar în favoarea unei legături eminesciene cu vechiul ratoş de pe valea Prutului se pot aduce în discuţie câteva amănunte biografice şi de istorie literară.

Ca târg, Darabanii sunt o ctitorie a marelui logofăt şi hatman al Moldovei, Theodor Balş (1837). Anterior, în vreme ce Costache Balş, tatăl hatmanului, stăpânea moşia şi aşezarea, la Dumbrăvenii Sucevei pământurile proprietarului Iordache Balş erau sub administraţia lui Gheorghe Eminovici. Cei doi mari latifundiari Bălşeşti, fraţi de sânge, întreţineau desigur strânse relaţii de proprietate şi de afaceri curente, în care scop cel mai nimerit “ambasador” nu puteau fi decât onestul şi foarte conştiinciosul administrator Eminovici, tatăl viitorului poet.

În tinereţe, se ştie, Emiescu a fost un harnic culegător de poezie populară. Între numeroasele piese lirice redate posterităţii prin intermediul manuscriselor se află şi o frumoasă doină de cătănie provenind din Darabani. Se numeşte “Frunză verde mintă creaţă” şi se referă la jalea oşteanului înstrăinat de cadrul său rural. Textul are două părţi distincte. Prima descrie deprimarea flăcăului care, din Ieşi de lângă mitropolie, trimite “cărţi” celor lăsaţi fără ajutor acasă. Partea finală conţine imprecaţia femeii rămase în sat către cei care i-au “soldăţit” bărbatul.

Se poate ca această doină să fi parvenit poetului împătimit de folclor printr-un intermediar. Dar cunoscându-se firea lui Eminescu din adolescenţă, permanent dornic de a cunoaşte nemijlocit geografia ţării, nu este exclus ca el să fi trecut personal prin Darabani. Setea sa nepotolită de călător per pedes, care l-a purtat mai târziu şi spre Pomârla lui Samson Bodnărescu, localitatea aflată la vreo 30 de km de Darabani, poate veni în sprijinul supoziţiei noastre.

Oricum, după doina de cătănie mai sus pomenită, mâna poetului aşternea de mai multe ori pe hârtie toponimul Darabani, cu prilejul conflictului ivit aici între proprietarul Cimara şi anumiţi târgoveţi. Un conflict care va genera cel mai  lung proces ţinut până atunci la o curte cu juri românească şi, totodată, ecouri până şi în presa de peste hotare. În Curierul de Iaşi din 3 iunie 1877 Eminescu, ziaristul, inserează o primă notă cu titlul “Arestare” în care se referă pe scurt la evenimentul dărăbănean.

La proces, desfăşurat pe parcursul a doi ani întregi, însuşi Maiorescu participă ca avocat al târgoveţilor. Meticulos cum îl ştim, el a notat cu grijă amănuntele în Însemnări zilnice iar ca apărător al cauzei târgoveţilor, avocatul junimist a trebuit să-i cunoască bine pe împricinaţi, motiv pentru care a rămas luni în şir pe teritoriul fostului judeţ Dorohoi. După exacta descriere, în pledoaria sa din 11 septembrie 1878 a unor aspecte toponimice, este de presupus că metorulul “Convorbirilor literare” cercetase direct, la faţa locului, împrejurările în care s-au consumat momentele conflictului dărăbănean.

Fireşte, unele dintre aserţiunile noastre de mai sus nu poartă pecetea certitudinii. Însă faptul că Emiescu însuşi a caligrafiat, cu grija sa nemăsurată pentru fizionomia literei, numele de Darabani (aşa cum procedează şi Titu Maiorescu în “Însemnări…), este pentru locuitorii oraşului din extremitatea nordică a ţării un indicibil motiv de mândrie.
