În secolul trecut și poate și-n cele de dinaintea lui orice sărbătoare din Darabani începea cu Hora. Un imn, dacă vreți, care dădea tonul bucuriei și îi lega pe dărăbăneni printr-un fir nevăzut, de mândrie și de simț al apartenenței.

Era un veac în care, fără să poarte patalamale de muzicieni, străbunicii noștri își scoteau naiul sau muzicuța de la brâu și cântau pe negândite, după partituri scrise în văzduh.

Ni-i putem și acum imagina așezându-se pe prispa casei sau în mijlocul câmpului, pentru un moment de tihnă, și cântând din fluierele făcute chiar de mâna lor.  Parcă îi putem vedea împreună duminica, în mijlocul satului, îngânând ritmul și prinzându-se cu toții în Hora de la Darabani.
