Când drumul vă aduce la Darabani trebuie să vă opriți și la casa „Leon Dănăilă”. Iar dacă mai există vreun dărăbănean care să nu fi vizitat muzeul până acum, acest lucru trebuie să se schimbe cât mai rapid cu putință.
Cartea de oaspeți, semnată de oameni simpli și de personalități din întreaga țară și din străinătate, reflectă cel mai bine surpriza pe care orice vizitator o resimte după vizita la muzeu. Greutatea spirituală și numărul exponatelor nu au cum să nu te impresioneze.
Leon Dănăilă este considerat de către comunitatea științifică internațională ca fiind unul dintre marile genii ale epocii moderne:
- a realizat peste 30.000 de operații pe creier
- este părintele neurochirurgiei românești
- are 27 de brevete de invenție și certificate de inovație în neurochirurgie
- a publicat 28 de cărți și mii de articole de specialitate

Poetul Victor Teișanu a avut inițiativa amenajării acestui muzeu și s-a ocupat de întregul proiect, fiind și astăzi custodele muzeului. Proiectul a fost realizat cu sprijinul academicianului însuși, în calitate de finanțator și furnizor al tuturor exponatelor, și al primăriei Darabani. Cei care doresc să viziteze Casa Leon Dănăilă o pot face gratuit, oricând.
Amplasat în casa părintească a academicianului, muzeul recompune, în patru încăperi, cele mai importante aspecte ale vieții și operei lui Leon Dănăilă.
Camera Artei
Încăperea găzduiește o expoziție permanentă de pictură românească, expunând circa 70 de tablouri semnate de artiști renumiți. Tablourile, provenite toate din colecția personală a academicianului, sunt semnate, între alții, de Nicolae Tonitza, Corneliu Baba, R. Sweitzer-Cumpănă, Ion Pacea, Constantin Piliuţă, Ion Grigore, Ion Sălișteanu, Dan Hatmanu, Sorin Ilfoveanu, Ion Musceleanu, Mircea Dumitrescu şi alţii.
Camera Istoriei
Această cameră înfățișează atmosfera copilăriei și a anilor de studiu, expunând fotografii de epocă ale familiei Dănăilă, precum și obiecte vechi, păstrate din copilăria și adolescența academicianului.
Camera Credinței
Aici sunt expuse peste 100 de icoane ortodoxe și catolice, unele valoroase prin vechime, altele prin ferecătura de aur sau argint. Camera adăpostește și alte obiecte de cult, de proveniență locală sau specifice culturilor orientale.
Camera Științei
Încăperea care uimește fără îndoială pe oricine vizitează acest muzeu expune o parte dintre distincțiile și trofeele primite de academician, care dovedesc importanța muncii doctorului Dănăilă pentru întreaga lume.
Aici sunt etalate diplome și premii diverse, medalii și decorații românești și străine, conferite de academii, universități și alte instituții ale lumii științifice contemporane.
De asemenea aici pot fi răsfoite numeroase lucrări de neurochirurgie scrise de academician, dar și dicționare și enciclopedii care fac referiri la activitatea sa științifică.
