1546 – Prima atestare documentară, într-un document emis la Huşi de către Domnitorul Petru Rareş.
1569 – Încă o atestare timpurie, tot sub numele de Căbiceni, într-un document emis de Bogdan Lăpuşneanu.
1652 – Ultima apariţie în arhive a numelui de Căbiceni.
1725 – Prima apariţie a numelui Darabani, pe o harta întocmită de Iordache Zmeură.
1773 – În Darabani existau 51 de case.
1774 – În Darabani locuiau 90 de familii, dintre care 75 de birnici, 8 femei sărace, 4 clerici, 1 evreu, 1 ruptaş şi 1 slugă boierească.
1803 – 120 de case (familii) existau atunci în Darabani, dintre care 50 în Corneşti.
1816 – În Darabani se înregistrau 100 de birnici şi 20 de scutiţi.
1825 – “De obşte geografie” (de Buffier) era menţionat “Părintele Ioan de la Darabani”.
1827 – Theodor Balş arendează serdarului Ion Ghiţăscu moşia Darabani pentru 5 ani.
1831 – Se înregistrau 159 de contribuabili (liuzi).
1837 – La 21 iunie, prin hrisov domnesc, Darabani devine târg cu 12 iarmaroace şi zi de târg lunea.
1839 – Prin “învoiala” cu târgoveţii, Theodor Balş le oferă comercianţilor evrei loc pentru spital, şcoală şi “mormânturi”, precum şi diverse facilităţi economice.
1841 – Este atestată prima şcoală sătească de stat din Moldova, cu14 şcolari cu vârste între 13 şi 17 ani şi avându-l ca învăţător pe Gheorghe Crudu, plătit cu 1000 de lei pe an de la Epitropie.
1840 – Se sfinţeşte Biserica cu hramul Sfântul Nicolae.
1845 – Târgul avea 1120 de locuitori, fiind considerat mare la acea vreme.
1847 – Poliţaiul Gheorghe Tîbuleac menţionează că în Darabani “nu sânt cărţi şi vânzători de cărţi”.
1848 – 93 de oameni mor de holeră. Nu se trag clopotele la Biserica Sf. Nicolae, pentru a nu produce panică în târg.
1850 – Se pregăteşte înfiinţarea unui spital la Darabani, cu medicamente de la “Haynal” din Botoşani.
1851 – La Darabani sunt înregistraţi 16 evrei.
1859 – Darabani este un târg mare, cu 1641 de locuitori, 431 familii, 813 bărbaţi, 828 femei, comparat cu Burdujeni, Podu Iloaie, Buhuşi, Adjud.
1859 – Tagma bisericească şi călugărească numără 22 de familii, cu 84 de suflete.
1864 – La împroprietărire nu este înregistrat niciun locuitor care să deţină 4 boi. Cei care deţin 2 boi primesc 4 fălci şi 12,5 prăjini de pământ. 59 de familii aveau câte 2 boi şi au primit în total 254 de fălci. 43 de familii au primit câte 2,40 de fălci şi 12,5 prăjini, iar 22 de familii au primit câte 12,5 prăjini. În total, dărăbănenii au fost împroprietăriţi cu 384 de fălci şi 14,5 prăjini, iar 20 de fălci au intrat în vatra satului, suprafaţa totală trecând astfel de 600 de hectare.
1865 – În târgul Darabani existau 365 de case, 500 de familii şi 1 biserică, iar în satele aferente încă 513 case, 593 de familii şi 3 biserici.
1870 – Ion Dobrincu devine primar.
1877 – În ziarul Figaro (21 mai) este menţionat dărăbăneanul Cimara, care dă pentru Războiul de Independenţă 4 cai buni. Alţi locuitori fruntaşi dau 2 cai şi o trăsură cu hamuri, biciuşcă şi pacorniţă. 2 evrei dau: 1 cal bolnav (Meir al Malcei) şi 150 de franci (Haim Nusen).
1883 – Consiliul local înfiinţează prima şcoală de meserii.
1885 – Smaranda Cimara vinde primăriei o parte din moşia Darabani, aflată în proprietatea sa.
1895 – Smaranda Cimara vinde restul moşiei lui V. Lascăr şi Ecaterinei Golescu.
1897 – Doctorul Andrei Biber sponsorizează şcoala din Darabani cu 500 de lei argint, pentru premii.
1899– Populaţia este de 6706 locuitori (3337 bărbaţi şi 3369 femei).
1900 – La Darabani funcţionează cu Cerc Cultural cu 12 învăţători de la 9 şcoli.
1901 – Nicolae Lupescu primeşte autorizaţia pentru a înfiinţa o farmacie provizorie la Darabani.
1902 – Se înfiinţează o farmacie avându-l ca proprietar pe Gheorghe Ghicescu şi Banca Populară “Tovărăşia”, care funcţionează până în 1945.
1905 – Darabani este reşedinţa Companiei a 10-a, Regimentul 29, de la frontiera Dorohoi.
1907 – Se construieşte o clădire pentru Spitalul Târgului, spital care funcţiona încă din 1895. Se înfiinţează o ţesătorie şi o olărie. La curtea Ecaterinei Golescu se derulează mişcări importante de protest, parte din Răscoala de la 1907.
1908 – Se înfiinţează Judecătoria Darabani.
1911 – Avocatul Remus Bălănescu devine primarul localităţii. Casa Rurală cumpără de la Ion Frank moşia Darabani, din care mai erau 503 de hectare (9 iunie).
1914 – În Darabani sunt înregistraţi 816 ştiutori de carte, toţi bărbaţi.
1916 – 1918 – 96 de dărăbăneni mor pe câmpul de luptă în Primul Război Mondial (1 căpitan, 1 plutonier, 1 sergent major, 3 sergenţi, restul soldaţi).
1924 – Iau fiinţă Biblioteca Publică şi Ateneul Român.
1926 – Comuna Darabani redevine, oficial, târg.
1930 – Se inaugurează “Crucea Eroilor” (1913).
1931 – Un grup de evrei scot revista “Haschachar”.
1937 – Se înregistrează 11.386 de locuitori în Darabani, dintre care 8655 ortodocşi şi 2731 mozaici (5692 bărbaţi şi 5784 femei). Stema oraşului este publicată în Monitorul Oficial.
